How commissions work

Choose the picture.

Choose the memory you want to make unique. Commissions are usually made from photographs, but you can also commission a copy of your favourite artwork, or describe a concept you want to have made. Mood boards can be helpful in that case.

Choose the medium.

Watercolour, oil, ink…? It all depends on your project and the mood you wish to create. Here are some guidelines, but don’t hesitate to get in touch using the contact form if you’re not sure. I’ll be happy to help.

  • Using my favourite extra-fine drawing nib and a bottle of Chinese ink, I make draws that are unique in style and charged with details. The overall feeling is sensitivity, sweetness, emotion. Ideal for architecture, portraits and precise scenes you want to capture. (N.B: The final draw is black and white).

  • The transparency of this technique brings a lot of freshness and colour to the picture. The overall feeling is delicacy and expression. Ideal for landscapes, urban sketching-like paintings and graphite sketches.

  • Oil paintings are elaborate artworks that require time. The result is therefore rich and brings much life to the scene. The overall feeling is peaceful, calm and ceremonious. Ideal for portraits, travel memories and landscapes.

  • Graphite and charcoal artworks are deep and moving. They can capture light, movement, bring a whole new perspective to your favourite famous paintings and generate the deepest of emotions. Ideal for portraits, human expression, movement (dance, cars, speed…) and abstract concepts.

To get a quote, first you’ll need to know what medium and what format you want. To get an idea of how much your painting will cost, refer the price list below. But keep in mind that every project is unique and that not only the materials, but the hours of work will determine the final price.

Caution: those prices do not include shipping fees. If you wish to know how much those will be, please get in touch and I’ll get a precise UPS quote for you.

Let’s get started.

STEP 1 — Once we’ve decided what options are best for you, based on the quote you’ve received, you will pay a non-refundable 30% deposit.

STEP 2 — Once that first payment is confirmed, I’ll start the preparatory sketches and send you the pictures. At that stage, some creative adjustments can still be made.

STEP 3 — I’ll start to paint. Once the artwork is finished, you’ll receive pictures to see the result.

STEP 4 — Everything is as you expected it: the final payment is made.

STEP 5 — I’ll ship your order.

N.B: For oil paintings, keep in mind that the artwork will need 4 to 6 weeks to dry before it can be shipped.
